CapIntel offers different methods to search for funds on the platform, depending on one specific needs. These methods include the Quick Search and the more comprehensive Fund Screener, which allows for refined searches with various filters. In addition, Pro and Enterprise users have access to additional products including Seg Funds, Canadian ETFs, Mutual Funds, Investment Trusts, certain Pension Funds, Savings Accounts, and Alternatives.
Quick Search
Conduct a quick search by directly inputting a fund code or name into the search bar. It's essential to ensure there are no spaces between letters and numbers within the fund code (e.g., INA10051).
Fund Screener for In-Depth Search
The Fund Screener offers comprehensive search results, empowering you to apply multiple filters for specific or grouped outcomes among Canadian Funds. CapIntel Pro and Enterprise Users can access additional features, such as Seg Funds, Canadian ETFs, Mutual Funds, Investment Trusts, some Pension Funds, certain Savings Accounts, and Alternatives.
Accessing the Fund Screener
You can access the Fund Screener conveniently from various tabs, including Models, Comparisons, or the Search tab. In this example, we will outline the process from the Comparisons tab:
Navigate to the Comparisons tab.
Click the + Start New Comparison button located on the right side.
You will be directed to a screen where you can open an existing models, client portfolios, or create a new portfolio.
To access the Fund Screener directly from this page, click the Open Fund Screener button, highlighted for your convenience.
Refining Your Search
Upon opening the Fund Screener, you will encounter a range of options for refining your search. Filter your search by fund type, risk level, manufacturer, and more.
After conducting a fund search, you can refine your results in two distinct ways:
a) Continue to employ the search refinements to narrow down your results.
b) Sort your results by selecting one of the fund metrics or details.
Viewing Fund Details
Clicking on a fund title will grant you access to the fund details page, where you can explore fundamental information about the fund. This information includes its objective, fund code(s), basic performance data, risk metrics, and a hypothetical return chart.
Adding Funds to Portfolio or Comparison
Additionally, you have the option to include funds directly from the screener. Use the Checkbox next to the fund name to select your preferred funds. Next, click either the Add to Portfolio or Add to Comparison button. This will allow you to create a new portfolio or comparison. You also have the option to continue searching with the selected funds to add them all at once to a comparison.
Pro Tip: You can also apply filters directly from the regular search bar by utilizing the dropdown menu beneath it.
Saving Your Searches
You can save any fund search to your favourites list by clicking on the Star icon next to the fund result.
This action will add the starred fund to your list of favourites, which will be found in the Search tab under Saved Funds.
CapIntel Pro Members and Enterprise Members have the added benefit of searching and establishing custom benchmarks for their analysis.
