Overview

In this article we would like to cover the Quick Add instruments CapIntel offers in the portfolio builder menu. They represent a simulation for possible asset allocations in these forms.

Proxies

The proxies menu has the S&P 500, TSX 60 Index for equity and FTSE Canadian Universe for fixed income for a quick category placeholder if a product is not available.

GIC

Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) is a deposit investment sold by Canadian banks and trust companies. People often purchase them for retirement plans due to their low-risk fixed rate of return and the insurance.

CapIntel has a simulation of GIC in the portfolio builder ready to use and include in a portfolio. The percentage rate, term in years and the start date can be defined when created. To define the rate of return, enter the percentage which should be applied to the full term selected. If a 5% annual return is desired, ensure that the 5% is applied to a 1 year term with a historical purchase date and an automatic renewal to show a longer timeframe.

HISA

HISA stands for High Interest Savings Account and serves as an illustration of allocating funds with high interest rates. The tool allows to choose the percentage rate and use HISA simulator in the portfolio builder while planning a portfolio for the clients.

Cash

There is also an option of adding cash to a portfolio presented in the Quick Add menu, both cash and cash return-free.
